Weapons

Rifles
of 6 mm (.243) caliber or
more are legal for caribou. 308, 30-06, 270,300 mag., etc. with 150 or
180 grain bullets
are just fine. Rifles should be equipped with a good quality scope (sighted for 200 yards)
and gun sling.
For black powder, muzzleloaders
must b
e of .50 caliber or more. For archery, bows must be at
least 40 pounds.
Bowhunters are welcome at all our
camps. Some of our sites are particularly weel-suited for bowhunting: located in
partly wooded areas along lakes or rivers, these territories offer enough cover
to allow for ambushes as well as stalks.
It is also possible, if you wish, to bring both your rifle and your bow and hunt with whatever you choose; every year, quite a few hunters harvest one caribou with their bow and the other one with their rifle.
